Welcome to mIMG_7814y blog. Here I am. Alex Dann – working mum, resident of Oakwood and passionate about the community. I am an active member of Woodlands Church, I volunteer with a Brownie Pack and I was a member of the Oakwood Neighbourhood Board for a short time (due to funding cuts).

I have decided to stand as an independent candidate for Oakwood Ward in the upcoming local council elections. I want to give residents an alternative choice, speaking FIRST for Oakwood, with a FRESH perspective, a FRIENDLY approach, FAMILY orientated and FREE from party politics.

I want to use this blog to help residents understand the process behind politics, to express my views on local issues and generally engage with the community.

Thank you for taking the time to read this first post. Feel free to comment – although please appreciate that I will be moderating these for political reasons. You can also follow my Facebook page – Independent Alex For Oakwood

  1. Thanks for giving us an alternative view Alex! Rather than standing against other candidates you’ve chosen to stand for our community!

  2. Finally…..!! A candidate free from party politics but more importantly, someone who is POSITIVE and PASSIONATE about the Oakwood community and trying to make a difference on the estate. Go for it Alex – supporting you all the way!!

  3. Having been to the Neighbourhood Forum last night, I was quite dismayed at the negativity of the current Councillors. The fresh positive approach that Alex can bring will be good for all who work live and work on Oakwood. I have every confidence in her.
